Collins Conference Room
Workshop
  US Mountain Time

Our campus is closed to the public for this event.

The workshop will bring together James S. McDonnell Foundation Complex Systems Advisors with members of the SFI research community to discuss possible mechanisms for a potential partnership advancing the development and application of complex systems science in the context of important scientific and societal problems where the collaboration of theorists and subject matter experts is necessary for progress.

This is an excellent opportunity for SFI to partner with a major foundation, one of the few with a complexity grant program, to “think big” and look into the future regarding applications and impacts of complex systems science. We hope this will be the first in a series of endeavors to work with foundations to communicate the value of complex systems science to their mission, their impact, and creation of new programs.

This workshop will be a planning activity for future events with the Foundation, bringing domain experts together with theorists to identify important questions in specific research areas that will benefit from a complex systems approach.
