Abstract.  In this seminar, I will briefly discuss how the mathematical and physical tools usually found in statistical physics can be used to “count” objects of interest. We will then proceed to apply this idea to two problems: i) estimating reaction rates of chemical reactions of metabolic networks; ii) reconstructing images from experimental measurements.
