The popular Science On Screen series continues Tuesday evening, August 20, in Santa Fe with SFI External Professor Doyne Farmer and Zardoz.
Sean Connery stars as Exterminator Zed in a postapocalyptic future featuring a flying stone head, revered as a god but with murderous intent, and two classes of inhabitants leading very different lives. Farmer will illuminate John Boorman's 1974 sci-fi cult classic from his unique perspective as a physicist, complexity theorist, and "rogue economist."
The show begins at 7:00 p.m. at the CCA, 1050 Old Pecos Trail, in Santa Fe. Advance tickets are recommended. For tickets and prices, call the CCA Box Office at 505-982-1338.
Science On Screen is a collaboration of SFI and the Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA) in Santa Fe. During each showing, an SFI scientist presents a favorite film, offering personal perspectives and insights from the world of science. It's an idea-rich spin on the movies.
SFI and CCA presented seven Science on Screen events in 2012. (Watch the 4-minute trailer for "Groundhog Day with Murray Gell-Mann," screened May 17, 2012, at the CCA.)
