External Professor Wendy Carlin (University College London) has been named a 2023 Fellow of the British Academy. Each year, the British Academy names up to 52 UK-based scholars to its fellowship. Scholars are selected for their contributions to research in the humanities and social sciences.

“It is a real honor to be elected a Fellow of the British Academy. I see it as recognition of an unusual body of work in economics. My research has been tied together by the theme of ‘regime change’, spanning early work on the transformation of the war economy in the western zones of Germany into the so-called German economic miracle, study of the transition from planning to capitalism after the fall of communism, modeling non-convergence of regions in an integrated economy, and more recently investigation of paradigm shifts in econoics research and teaching,” says Carlin.
