The SFI postdoctoral fellows during their 2021 "Pandemic Pod"

The Santa Fe Institute is looking for creative, early-career scientists for the SFI Complexity Postdoctoral Fellowships.

Unique among postdoctoral appointments, these fellowships offer scholars the opportunity to join a collaborative research community that nurtures creative, transdisciplinary thought in pursuit of key insights about the complex systems that matter most for science and society.  The common denominator among all SFI scientists is intense curiosity, creativity, and a desire to delve deeply into the major questions facing science and society.

The Complexity Postdoctoral Fellowships are comprised of the Omidyar Fellowship and the ASU-SFI Fellowship.* They offer:

  • collaboration with leading researchers worldwide
  • up to three years in residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico
  • competitive salary
  • funds for research and collaboration
  • paid family leave
  • professional development
  • unparalleled intellectual freedom

Top candidates for the Complexity Postdoctoral Fellowships are already working across disciplines and have an interest in conducting original research in complex systems. Candidates must have an exemplary academic record, strong quantitative and computational skills, a Ph.D. in any scientific discipline granted within the last six years, and have demonstrated an interest in multidisciplinary research.

Women, members of underrepresented groups, and veterans are encouraged to apply.

The application period begins August 2 and ends October 24, 2021. APPLY HERE.

*The Omidyar Fellowship is funded by Pierre and Pam Omidyar. The ASU-SFI Fellowship is funded by the ASU-SFI Center for Biosocial Complex Systems.
