Suzanne Kern

Suzanne Kern is the Director of Education at the Santa Fe Institute. Suzanne earned her B.A. in Biochemistry from Colorado College and her Ph.D. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While at MIT and Caltech, her research focused on characterizing unusual metabolic and signaling pathways in bacteria, involving chemical, cellular, population, and ecosystem levels of analysis.

Suzanne has a longstanding passion for education and brings two decades of experience in pedagogy, teaching, administration, and residential life at a variety of institutions. Leading up to her time at SFI, she wore many hats as a professor and administrator at Minerva University.
