Robin Lewis

Director of Sponsored Research Services

Robin S Lewis is the Director of Sponsored Research Services Office at Santa Fe Institute. She has spent over 25 years in all aspects of Research Administration; from Post-Award Accounting to Research Development.  Robin loves working with young faculty and Postdocs to help them develop into great grantwriters and well-funded researchers. She believes that exposure and practice in grantwriting and award management cannot start too early in a researcher's career which led her to partnering with academics at Georgia College in developing an office of Mentored Undergraduate Research And Creative Endeavors.  Additionally, Ms. Lewis and Dr. Dee Sams co-founded the state-level event, Posters at the Georgia Capitol, an opportunity for undergraduates to present their research to state elected officials.

Robin holds a MPA from Georgia College & State University where she was also the Director of the Sponsored Project Office and a BA in Classical Studies from the University of Florida.  She attributes her undergraduate studies in the development of advanced critical thinking and analysis skills that make a great research administrator. And the one undergrad class, Introductions to Computers and Software, what helped her be an advanced user of Lotus123 (precursor to Excel) that she still uses today.

Robin believes that learning is a lifelong activity and when you stop learning and questioning things, it might as well be over.
