Social Media Strategist

Michael Garfield studied ecology and evolutionary biology as an undergraduate, before broadening his scope to study the role of mind and language in the evolutionary process, the co-evolution of humans and technology (especially our media environments), and the emergence of new modes of identity and social organization in electronic planetary culture. After spending seven years as a field volunteer for a team of dinosaur paleontologists, five years as a scientific illustrator, and thirteen years as an itinerant transmedia artist, he is honored and relieved to be back in the academic conversation at SFI.
