Journalism Fellow

Christie Aschwanden is a science journalist whose work has appeared in dozens of publications, including Smithsonian, Popular Science, New Scientist, Discover, Science and NPR.org. She writes a health column for the Washington Post and is a frequent contributor to the New York Times. Her Last Word On Nothing post about science denialism at Susan G. Komen for the Cure won the National Association of Science Writers’ 2013 Science in Society Award for Commentary/Opinion, and she was a National Magazine Award finalist in 2011. She previously has been a fellow of the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting and the Carter Center, and she’s a frequent speaker at journalism and scientific conferences. She plans to spend June 2015 at the Institute.
