Carrie Cowan
Director for Education
Carrie Cowan helps lead the Santa Fe Institute’s mission to equip the next generation of researchers and scientists with the tools and creativity needed to solve the critical problems that face society. She joined SFI in 2019 to enhance SFI’s renowned in-person and online educational programs. Previously, she held positions in science education and training at The Jackson Laboratory (Maine) and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (New York), prior to which she directed a research lab investigating how cells process spatial and temporal information (IMP, Vienna, Austria). She holds a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley and a BA from Wellesley College.
