Three SFI researchers have been named fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for 2022, the association announced on January 31, 2023.

External Professors Amos Golan (American University) and Matthew O. Jackson (Stanford University; SFI Science Board) were honored for their contributions to social, economic, and political sciences, while External Professor Doug Erwin (Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History) was honored in the section on geology and geography.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), founded in 1848, is the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the journal Science. Fellows are chosen for their contributions to scientific and societal applications of science and elected by peers.
