Science On Screen Tuesday: Don't miss Cormac McCarthy's The Road, presented by Ole Peters

January 17, 2014

The popular Science On Screen series continues Tuesday, January 21, in Santa Fe with SFI External Professor Ole Peters presenting The Road, directed by John Hillcoat and adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Cormac McCarthy.

Hear his interview on the Julia Goldberg morning radio show (9 minutes, January 17, 2014)

Cormac McCarthy’s uber-dark, heart-wrenching post-apocalyptic tale is translated to the screen in unforgettable fashion. Viggo Mortenson, Charlize Theron, and Kodi Smit-McPhee play members of a family in a world where survival can be the only goal. In his introduction to the film, Peters will discuss issues of time, possibility, and alternate realities.

The show begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA), 1050 Old Pecos Trail, in Santa Fe. Advance tickets are recommended. For tickets and prices, call the CCA Box Office at 505-982-1338.

The Science On Screen series is a collaboration between SFI and the CCA. During each showing, an SFI scientist presents a favorite film, offering personal perspectives and insights from the world of science. It's an idea-rich spin on the movies.

SFI and CCA have presented 12 Science on Screen events since 2012. (Watch the 4-minute event trailer for Groundhog Day with Murray Gell-Mann, screened May 17, 2012, at the CCA.)
