Richard Lenski at SFI's 2013 annual Science Board Symposium

SFI Science Board member Richard Lenski has been elected as a member of the American Philosophical Society (APS).

The APS, founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1743 "for the purpose of promoting useful knowledge,” engages top scholars from a variety of academic disciplines. Lenski is a Hannah Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University where he has been running the longest-running evolution experiment in history, propagating lineages of Escherichia coli since 1988.
