Jim Rutt, Chairman of SFI's Board of Trustees, kicks off the High Desert Discovery District's "HD3 Presents" lecture series this evening, March 3 in Santa Fe, in a rousing talk he calls "Shoot the Puppy: Real Life Insights on the Journey from Idea to Exit."

Prior to his retirement in 2001, Rutt was CEO of Network Solutions, Inc., which administered the .com, .net, and .org domain namespaces on the Internet. During his career he either founded or played key roles in several other significant information services and network companies.

In "Shoot the Puppy," Rutt offers -- in his uniquely humorous style -- real life insights concerning the world of ideas, start-ups, innovation, commercialization, revenues, and exits. Rutt's first delivery of "Shoot the Puppy" during HD3's opening night received wide acclaim among the entrepreneurs and innovators who attended.

HD3 and SFI are co-hosting the lecture, which begins at 6 p.m. Cocktails and networking begin at 5 p.m.

All "HD3 Presents" lectures take place at the Discovery District located at 560 Montezuma in the Santa Fe Railyard district. Lectures are open to the public; no registration or reservation is required.

The High Desert Discovery District is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to identifying and commercializing technology projects in New Mexico. HD3 provides a forum for entrepreneurs, scientists, innovators, and technologists to be heard and their discovery to be understood by a highly-experienced group of business strategists, successful entrepreneurs, and management executives seeking to contribute their own knowledge and experience toward the improvement of the New Mexico entrepreneurial economy.
