A global increase over the past decade in acquisitions of large tracts of land is likely to bring rapid and large-scale environmental transformations, according to a new paper by Eli Lazarus, who examines this "land grabbing" from a complex systems perspective.

Lazarus began the research behind the paper during the 2010 Global Sustainability Summer School in Santa Fe, hosted by SFI.
