Cormac McCarthy at the Santa Fe Institute

SFI Trustee and writer Cormac McCarthy has been awarded the Humanities Prize by the School of Humanities and Education at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. The prize recognizes McCarthy’s “deep and important contribution in the understanding of Mexico-USA relations through” his books like Blood Meridian and his Border trilogy.

“In a historical moment without precedent in a long time, where the tone of the past year has been walls, deportation, discrimination, militarized borders and an end to free trade, giving a prize to those who contribute to the cordial relation of both countries and an appreciation of the other is indeed an act of hope and resistance,” writes María de Alva, professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey.
