Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity in non-equilibrium statistical physics.
The Santa Fe Institute-a private, not-for-profit theoretical research and education facility-has an opening for a full-time postdoc in non-equilibrium statistical physics. Funded by NSF, the project focuses on the first-passage and non-equilibrium dynamics of many-body systems. Specific topics include, but are not limited to: stochastic failure problems, extinction dynamics of microbial populations, stochastic search processes, and the random-walk modeling of foraging dynamics. The successful candidate will be supervised and work closely with Professor Sidney Redner.
The ideal candidate should have a background in non-equilibrium statistical physics, with strong analytical skills, a facility for programming, and flexibility to work in new areas. Subject to performance and available funding, the position will last up to two years.
Postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to interact and collaborate with members of the larger SFI community and to develop their own research projects. The annual salary for the position will be $60,000 with full employee benefits including health insurance, paid time off, and modest relocation support. Additional resources are available to assist with travel and other research needs.
