Abstract. The working group at the Institute 14-16 February 2016 will bring together economists, people from the publishing business (both electronic and print), online content designers, and others. We will chart new directions in pedagogy and content as well as new organizational and business models that will sustain a new open access curriculum called CORE. The Curriculum Open-access Resources for Economics project provides a yearlong new introduction to economics built around the modeling and empirical investigation of fundamental issues that are for the most part lacking in the current curriculum including financial instability, wealth creation in a capitalist economy, inequality, and environmental sustainability. The meeting will draw lessons from the experience of teachers and students who have used our curriculum at Columbia University, Universidad de los Andes, University College London, Central European University, SciencesPo, and Azim Premji University. The curriculum reflects the contributions of Santa Fe Institute scientists over the years including experimental methods in the study of behavior, the dynamics of price setting, the evolution of economic disparities, financial instability, and innovation. The workshop will be convened by Sam Bowles, SFI Professor.
