Our campus is closed to the public for this event.

Abstract: Friction, stickiness, jamming, . . .  we tend to pooh-pooh at these conditions as spoilers which dull life.  This lecture, however, will perform many table-top demos and share a maximal diversity of exciting phenomena that pop out of these conditions, and to understand them via unexpected minimal models.  Some of the demos are such that you can enjoy them later with friends and family as easy magic tricks.
