"Complexity Economics"

With the economy in a period of upheaval, mainstream thinking is moving away from the standard neoclassical approach to economics. One of the main contenders to replace it is an approach SFI pioneered in the 1980s: complexity economics. Brian Arthur will explain what this new economics does, how it works, why it is needed, and how it might prevent future crises. Complexity economics sees the economy not as a perfectly balanced, smoothly functioning machine, but as a system that is organic, evolutionary, ever-changing, and historically-contingent.
