CANCELED - Graduate Workshop in Computational Social Science

Canceled

Santa Fe, NM
Education Program

All day

June 21, 2020 – July 3, 2020

This event is closed to the public.

Though this event is closed to the public, prospective students are encouraged to apply. See below.

The Santa Fe Institute is pleased to announce the 26th annual Graduate Workshop in Computational Social Science, June 21 - July 3, 2020 in Santa Fe. The workshop will bring together a group of advanced graduate students and a small faculty for an intensive two-week study of computational social science. The workshop will consist of lectures and seminars by Santa Fe Institute faculty and presentations of work in progress by graduate student participants.

The primary goal of the summer workshop is to assist graduate students pursuing research agendas which include a computational modeling component. A significant portion of the workshop will be devoted to analyzing and improving research being conducted by the graduate student participants.

Participation at the workshop will be limited to around 10 graduate students. Women and members of unrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.

Fees

Tuition: $2,475. Tuition for the program covers participation, course materials, accommodations, and meals. Students are responsible for the cost of travel.

After being accepted, students are expected to seek financial support for tuition from their home institutions, departments, or other sources. SFI is happy to provide supporting information about GWCSS to accompany such requests or applications. A limited amount of tuition assistance may be available for students with exceptional need who have demonstrated a substantial effort to obtain outside support.

For more information and to apply, visit: https://www.santafe.edu/gwcss

Applications will be accepted through February 11, 2020.

Applicants ideally should have completed a minimum of two years of graduate study in economics or other social science fields and be actively pursuing research in computational social science (highly qualified applicants who do not meet these exact criteria will also be considered). Interested students should submit a recent curriculum vitae, one letter of recommendation, contact information for two other references, and a one-page outline of a current or proposed research project in computational social sciences. Preference will be given to applicants who best demonstrate the ability to successfully complete research in this area.

Deadline

All materials (including recommendation letters) must be received by the February 11, 2020 deadline. If you have questions or technical problems, please send an email to education@santafe.edu.
