Our campus is closed to the public for this event.

Abstract.  The Santa Fe Institute has actively participated in the emerging field of macrohistory and specifically the mathematical modeling of long-term cultural evolutionary and historical processes.  This working group brings together participants in several ongoing projects that are developing data sets for macrohistorical analysis in order to discuss common problems and concerns.  Its intent is to arrive at a common framework for these quantitative data such that they are accessible to other researchers and can be linked together and into larger data structures.  It is hoped that the concepts and issues discussed at the working group will become general protocols for future data collection and dissemination in macrohistorical research.
