Abstract.  The problem of water is one of location and timing.  Some places have too little, some places have too much, and moving water from here to there was once a genuinely difficult engineering problem.  Today it’s not difficult, but it is expensive. In this informal talk, I’ll cover some interesting social, institutional, and engineering solutions to the twin problems of supplying clean water whenever and wherever we want it, and making our wastewater disposal system invisible.
