Meeting Summary: Many networks can be characterized by an ability to incorporate novel information while also not losing crucial structural properties. In an evolutionary context, this structural resilience is thought to be associated with the evolutionary success of a given species. Students from the Complex Systems Summer School will return to the SFI to continue working on a project to compute the change in the resilience of an organism's protein-protein interaction networks in the presence of newly added proteins. Findings from this work will offer a network-general notion of prospective resilience, which informs specific predictions about the viability of introducing proteins in a variety of protein networks.
