Abstract.  Interactions based on function rather than form, are providing a theoretical framework to study cities.  There are several problems that emerge as a result of interactions in our living environment.  I will be focusing on two broad problem areas such as bullying and mental illness.

We are leveraging general principles of Complex Systems to provide a framework for modeling such social interactions.  We implemented a computational model showing bullying using NetLogo™. Safe zones emerged using enforcers.

The second part of the talk will describe a set of events that occur when someone becomes mentally ill. A network of connections that emerges could help us model these events and their outcomes in the future.

The final portion of the presentation will make a case for Game platforms, e.g. unity3D™, as a fertile ground for problem solving under duress. Examples of such interactions will be discussed.  Our future research interests will be presented.
