Greg Malone, Project GUTS

In a blog post for the Computer Science Teachers Association, Irene Lee, Director of SFI’s Learning Lab, advocates for afterschool programs as great venues for K-12 students to learn computer science.  

Lee summarizes salient points from a recent webinar on afterschool computer science, which featured three afterschool computing programs, including SFI’s Project GUTS (Growing Up Thinking Scientifically). Among the reasons to teach computer science after school hours were more time for project-based work and better access to STEM professionals.
