Some big names in science are expected to attend a meeting in February at CERN on the origin of life, writes the Huffington Post's Suzan Mazur, who cites work by longtime SFI researcher Stuart Kauffman and SFI External Professor Steen Rasmussen.

"Stu Kauffman terms the event 'radical science,' aimed at finding an answer to the big question that interests every one of us -- who we are and where we came from," Mazur writes.

Recent promising work on the development of protocells is likely to loom large at the meeting.

"But will the Origin of Life soufflé about to be baked in Geneva rise or fall?" Mazur asks.

The John Templeton Foundation is sponsoring the meeting.
