More than 200 5th-8th grade girls spent Saturday, October 5, with New Mexico women who have chosen careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computing (STEM-C).

This year's Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) Santa Fe conference, held at the Santa Fe Community College, drew teachers, parents, and girls from private, public, and home schools from around Northern New Mexico.
The girls participated in hands-on workshops on topics ranging from emergency medicine to computer science and biology. They also heard from New Mexico professional women about how they got their start in careers involving STEM-C.
The conference featured a workshop for educators, counselors, and parents on games and activities that encourage and prepare girls for careers in STEM-C. Girls and their families attended an afternoon STEM-C Fair where local STEM-C programs, camps, and employers offered “make and take” project booths.
Expanding Your Horizons™ conferences nurture girls' interest in science, computer science, mathematics, and computing. The conferences are held around the state and the nation.
