Ensia magazine asks five experts in urban development, including SFI Professor Luis Bettencourt, what they think the world's cities will be like in the year 2050.

"Cities at their best are social environments where creativity and human development go hand in hand," Bettencourt writes. "The great challenge for cities in the decades to come is to promote universal socioeconomic development that is open-ended and sustainable."
