I studied philosophy and maths before getting into complex systems, which so far has mainly meant nonlinear dynamics, evolution and artificial life. I've been focusing on a class of models which view populations as complex systems, with phenotype dynamics emerging from the local (competitive) interactions between organisms. I'm also interested in the problem of modelling systems that change their components as they evolve, and alternatives to the phenotype space/fitness landscape conception of evolution, since neither phenotypes nor their fitnesses can be prespecified.
