I studied Electrical Engineering but immediately became fascinated about complex systems when attending a course taught by my current thesis advisor, Ricard V. Solé. That may prove foolish enthusiasm for this new field or an absolut dumbness in choosing the right degree. Actually, a third possibility may be the key: being rather ingenuous. But I'm happy with the thought that such a background gives me a different look at things such as my thesis topic, Artificial Life. To tell the you truth, the programming part is much easier this way. Actually, I started doing some collective intelligence stuff (ants, active walkers) but quickly directed attention to the origin of life problem and ingenuousness started pulling again, in the end making me change the subject. To the point of even taking some biology courses. Now I'm having a look at the scale-free network of metabolism, and self-replicating spots, mainly.
