Stephen Marsland has a degree in maths from Somerville College, part of the University of Oxford. He is currently in the final year of a PhD researching novelty detection in neural networks. This has involved investigations into unsupervised learning, self-organisation and topology preservation and continuous learning. Other research interests include bioinformatics, Bayesian learning and kernel-based methods.
