Vitor Rafael Coluci

v_coluci picture I am at the beginning of the second year of my Ph.D. program and I am currently studying the interaction between some carcinogenic materials (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) with the DNA using quantum mechanical methods. One of the objectives is to elucidate the origin of the carcinogenic activity of these compounds and thus to investigate the first steps of the development chemical carcinogenesis. I am also studying the possibility to find an universality class related to some electronic descriptors used to classify a molecule as an active or inactive carcinogenic.
