r_sandberg picture My research interests are focused on biological networks. For instance how can we identify interactions between proteins, metabolites and genes? What is the topology of these interactions? For metabolic networks Jeong et al. showed evidence for a scale free connectivity distribution. If biological networks are scale free, how will a scale free topology affect the dynamical repertoire of the system? I am also interested in the analysis of whole genome sequences and the lessons to be learned from it. How do the combinatorial effects of cis- regulatory elements and the binding transcription factors control gene regulation? Why are the motif (small oligonucleotides) distributions so different between genomes and within genomes?
