  • Instructor(s): TBA
  • Institution: UCLA
  • Category: Social Science
  • Description: Hands-on introduction to artificial life and evolutionary computation as they contribute to philosophy and practice of artificial culture, description, understanding, and explanation of human complex systems through computer simulations. Informed and critical look at evolution, origin, and emergence of physical, biological, and cultural processes from perspective of revolutionary new sciences of complexity. Students design, modify, and experiment with interactive simulations featuring cellular automata, algorithmic patterning, and evolutionary and genetic programming. May be repeated for credit.
