Research at the Santa Fe Institute (SFI) is conducted by multigenerational groups ranging from senior scientists to postdoctoral fellows to undergraduate interns.
Resident Faculty - SFI Professors and Visiting Faculty are in residence for periods of one to six years.
Omidyar Fellows and Postdoctoral Fellows - These Fellows are in residence from one to three years working on collaborative as well as individual projects.
External Faculty - These researchers participate in the SFI program from their home universities and research institutions, which are located throughout the world.
Graduate Fellows - SFI supports the residencies of a select group of graduate students, all of whom are matriculating at other institutions.
Staff - A permanent staff manages the operations of the institute and is, responsible for academic programs, computing, publications and development activities.
