Director of Communications
As the birthplace and world nexus of complexity science, the Santa Fe Institute shapes the scientific and popular dialogue about the interconnected and adaptive complex systems most critical to our future – economies, living systems, human institutions, and the global condition.
John German directs the Institute's communications program, responsible for its science communications, website, social media, multimedia, and publications. He also serves as the Institute’s liaison with the local, national, and international news media and manages SFI’s prestigious Journalism Fellowship in Complex Systems Science.
Previously he was a science writer, spokesperson, speechwriter, and communications advisor at Sandia National Laboratories, where he led the corporate communications and media relations teams, edited lab publications, and developed numerous new online, interactive, and multimedia communication tools.
